Privacy Policy

Framework
Our Privacy Policy regulates the processing of user personal data, as collected when they use website www.fmsoaresbarroso.pt, with a view to ensuring compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and Council. It also ensures compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in force since the 25 May 2018 in the European Union, which establishes the rules governing the processing, by a person, company or organization, of personal data concerning persons in the EU.

One should also add to this framework Portuguese Law no. 58/2019, of the 8 August 2019, which ensures the execution, within Portugal’s legal system, of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the EU Parliament and Council, of the 27 April 2016, governing the protection of natural persons insofar as the processing of their personal data and the free circulation of such data are concerned.

Website www.fmsoaresbarroso.pt is managed by The Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation (hereafter “FMSMB”).

Collection and processing of personal data
The FMSMB website only collects those personal data that are strictly necessary and pertinent for their intended purpose, namely to:

  • Manage the participation in Awards and Competitions;
  • Manage the participation in Events;
  • Manage the communication with users;
  • Comply with the legal requirements.

FMSMB, as entity responsible for the processing of personal data:

  • Ensures that your personal data are processed for the intended purposes of their collection, or for purposes compatible with such intended purposes;
  • Collects, uses and keeps only those personal data required for the intended purpose;
  • Does not share any personal data for commercial or advertising purposes;
  • Processes personal data for legally established purposes, or for providing services requested by users.

Keeping personal data
All the collected personal data shall be kept for the period strictly required by their processing, according to the respective purpose.

These periods can however be changed whenever justified by the associated public interest, or historical, scientific or statistical reasons.

Access Rights
All users shall be entitled to access those data that directly concern them. They can update them or correct them, ensure their portability, delete them, impose restrictions to their processing or even oppose such processing, without compromising the data processing already done up to that moment. To exercise his/her rights, the holder of such data shall send a request to geral@fmsoaresbarroso.pt. 

Security Measures
FMSMB undertakes to ensure the security and protection of the personal data collected by the Foundation and has consequently adopted a series of technical and organizational measures.

Data holders however shall be responsible for ensuring that their computers are appropriately protected against harmful software, computer viruses and worms. In addition, they should be aware that the absence of appropriate security measures (e.g., safe configuration of the navigation Programme, up-to-date antivirus software, firewall and use of software of dubious provenance) will aggravate the risk of having their personal data and passwords hacked by third parties, without permission to do so.

Whenever data is collected in open networks, like the Internet, your data may circulate without safety conditions, and you will run the risk of having them seen and utilised by unauthorised third parties.

The FMSMB website uses cookies. Cookies aim to secure an optimized functioning of the online solutions. The use for personal or confidential information is not registered.

Alterations to the Privacy Policy
The FMSMB can change this Privacy Policy at any time. Such alterations shall be notified at the website.
