International Colloquium ‘Student Resistance to the Estado Novo: Organisations, publications and the arts’

An initiative of the Hemeroteca Municipal de Lisboa with the aim of debating and bringing new knowledge about student resistance to the Estado Novo, a movement that Mário Soares was part of as leader of the Youth Democratic Unity Movement.

The International Colloquium ‘The Student Resistance to the Estado Novo: Organisations, Publications and the Arts’ will take place at the Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation on 24 March 2025.

The initiative, promoted by the Hemeroteca Municipal de Lisboa, is part of the Mário Soares Centenary commemorations programme.

Call for papers (extended until 16 February)

Proposals for papers (up to 300 words and three keywords) should be accompanied by a brief CV (150 words) and the applicant's institutional affiliation, and sent to: hemeroteca@cm-lisboa.pt.
