The Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation is a non-profit private institution of public utility, whose cultural interest has been recognised. Donations to the Foundation shall enjoy the tax benefits established in the Cultural Patronage regulation.

Donations to the Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation can be made by private individuals or legal persons, in the following forms:

• Institutional Sponsoring, supporting the development of the Foundation’s global programming.
• Activity Sponsoring, supporting and helping materialize specific initiatives and projects.
• Archives and Collections Sponsoring, supporting the preservation and divulgation of archives and collections.

Benefits

• Tax benefits for legal persons: value of donation uplifted by 30 to 40 percent
• Tax benefits for private individuals: 25 percent deduction of the donation, uplifted by 30 to 40 percent, up to 15 percent of tax payable.
• Divulgation on the website and in divulgation materials.
• Invitation to official events and ceremonies.
• Special conditions for using the Foundation’s spaces
• Ten percent discount at the shop

Support the Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation, free of charge, by way of your income statement. You may donate 1% of your tax payable after deductions to VAT number 502 607 122.

The donation can be made in the period of income statement submittal, between 1 April and 30 June.

How can you make the donation?
1. Select Table 11 of Model 3 of the Income Statement.
2. 2. Fill out field 1101 with the Foundation’s VAT number (502 607 122).
3. Submit the request.

The Friends of the Museum-House are a non-profit organisation, with head office in Cortes (Leiria). Their purpose is to support and divulge the activity of the João Soares Museum-House, thus contributing to its development and sustainability.

Friends can be private individuals or legal persons. Please contact us, if you want to know more about becoming a Friend.

• To be associated with the names of Mário Soares and Maria Barroso, symbols of freedom and democracy, as well as promoters of peace, human rights and social justice.
• To be part of, and contribute to, the commemorations of the birth centennials of Mário Soares (2024) and Maria Barroso (2025).
• To develop a connection with archives or collections of national and international renown, boosting their protection, study and dissemination.
• To upgrade society’s understanding and literacy on matters of democracy, while promoting citizen involvement in the development of educational programs.
• To promote and encourage the study and research on Portugal’s Contemporary History.
• To contribute to public debate and to the definition of public policies in line with the major challenges of modern times.
• To preserve the public nature, free of charge, of the services provided by the Mário Soares and Maria Foundation and the João Soares Museum-House.
