Inauguration of the exhibition ‘Carlos Gil: a photojournalist of war and peace’

In the year commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of 25 April and the 30th anniversary of the award of the Gazeta Prize in the photojournalism category to Carlos Gil, the exhibition ‘Carlos Gil: a photojournalist of war and peace’ reveals unpublished images of the work of a reporter committed to the self-determination of peoples and the peace he sought for himself and the men he described.
Curated by Daniel Gil, his son, the exhibition is based on Carlos Gil's archive, deposited at the Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation, which portrays a legacy of 35 years of photojournalism, highlighting its extensive geographical and temporal coverage (1960 to 2000), as well as the photographer's humanist vision of the subjects portrayed.
The opening will take place on 8 October at 6pm at Casa da Imprensa.
The initiative is organised by the Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation, in partnership with the Journalists' Club and Casa da Imprensa.
