Film Cycle: Mário Soares: Images and Words

As part of the commemorations marking the Centenary of Mário Soares, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, in partnership with Universidade Lusófona, is hosting the film cycle “Mário Soares: Images and Words”, taking place on 10 and 11 November 2025.

The programme includes two sessions devoted to reflecting on the thought and political action of Mário Soares through documentary and cinematic records.

On 10 November, at 6 p.m., in the JJ Laginha Auditorium (ISCTE), the film Conversas de Mário Soares will be screened, featuring interviews with Mikhail Gorbachev (2002) and Inácio Lula da Silva (2008). The session will include a conversation with Bruno Cardoso Reis.

On 11 November, at 4 p.m., in the Paquete de Oliveira Auditorium (ISCTE), the documentary PS – 50 Years. The German Root, by Jacinto Godinho (2023), will be presented. Following the screening, there will be a discussion with the director, Luís Nuno Rodrigues and Ana Mónica Fonseca.
