Between 24 June and 3 July, the Res Publica Foundation is promoting a series of conferences to mark the centenary of Mário Soares' birth, under the title: ‘100 Years of Soares: Legacy and Current Political Intervention’.

Over the course of four themed sessions, the cycle proposes a reflection on the career, thought and political action of Mário Soares, a central figure in Portuguese democracy. The sessions will be moderated by Ivan Nunes and Filipe Nunes, and will feature specialists from different fields:

24 June - José Manuel dos Santos, The roots of Soares - formation and intellectual references26 June - Augusto Santos Silva, Soares and the Left - conflicts and convergences1 July - António Araújo, Soares and the Right - rivalry and alliances3 July - Mafalda Pratas, Soares and Democracy - the strategic choices.

The conferences take place at the Res Publica Foundation. Registration here, subject to room restrictions.
