Conference ‘40 Years of Portugal in the European Union: The Legacy of Mário Soares and the Challenges of the Future’

The conference ‘40 Years of Portugal in the European Union: The Legacy of Mário Soares and the Challenges of the Future’, part of the cycle of conferences on the centenary of Mário Soares, will take place on 11 June 2025, at 7pm, at the Lisbon Book Fair, South Auditorium.

The debate will be attended by:

• Sofia Moreira de Sousa, European Commission Representative in PortugalAna Paula Zacarias
• Director of the Diplomatic Institute
• Dina Sebastião, Professor at the University of Coimbra and author of Mário Soares and Europe
• Paulo Rangel, Minister of State and Foreign Affairs

Luísa Meireles, Information Director at Agência Lusa, will moderate the session.

The session is open to the public, with no need to register, and seating is limited to 160 people.

The initiative, promoted by the Diplomatic Institute, is part of the Mário Soares Centenary commemorations programme.
