"Ordinary Voices": organisation and study of the correspondence between citizens and Mário Soares during the transition to Portuguese democracy (1974-1978)

‘Vozes Comuns": organisation and study of correspondence between citizens and Mário Soares during the transition to Portuguese democracy (1974-1978) is a project funded under the FCT competition “O 25 de Abril e a democracia portuguesa”.

It aims to organise, analyse and disseminate the correspondence exchanged between citizens and Mário Soares during the revolution and the transition to Portuguese democracy between 1974 and 1978, seeking to answer the question: what visions of a country (and for the future of a country) do the letters written by citizens to the politician Mário Soares reveal?

The project, which will last 18 months, has the partnership of the following institutions: Centre for International Studies-ISCTE; Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology-ISCTE; Portuguese Institute of International Relations; Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto; Institute of Contemporary History.
